The IP Networking webinar series continues with Part 6 focusing on an Introduction to IP Multicast. IP multicast is a unique aspect of IP networking technology that provides one-to-many communications between a source IP host and numerous subscriber IP hosts. The use of IP multicast for delivery of real-time media content often finds widespread use in the broadcast facility.
This webinar focuses on understanding multicast terminology, the addressing utilized, and the basics of switching and routing in a multicast IP network. Practical implementation examples to deliver AoIP and IPTV content will be utilized to illustrate the theoretical concepts presented.
The IP Networking Webinar Series focuses on enhancing the broadcast engineers’ knowledge of the technology and practical concepts of IP networking in the broadcast facility. In addition, the webinar series provides an excellent tutorial for those preparing for SBE networking certifications such as the CBNE.

Wayne Pecena is the assistant director of educational broadcast services in the Office of Information Technology at Texas A&M University. In this position, he serves as the director of engineering of TTVN: The Enterprise Videoconference and Data Network serving the Texas A&M University System and Public Broadcast stations KAMU-TV and KAMU-FM serving the Brazos Valley area. He is responsible for leading technology implementation for the enterprise network of the Texas A&M University System, supporting more than 150 IP data locations and more than 350 videoconference sites within Texas and internationally. In addition, Wayne is responsible for broadcast technology implementation at KAMU. He has more than 35 years of broadcast telecommunications experience and holds BS and MS degrees from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed Private Pilot and holds Amateur Radio Operator License N1WP.
The completion of this webinar from Webinars by SBE qualifies for 1 credit, identified under Category I of the Recertification Schedule for SBE Certifications.
