TAKE A LOOK AT THE EXCELLENT ENNES LINE-UP:

It was a Dark and Stormy Night . . . Then, the Power Went Out and the Generator Didn’t Start, Mike Pappas, Field Engineer and VP of Business Development, Orban

For 19 years, I was tasked with keeping a raft of public radio stations on the air. One of my ongoing nemeses during that time was gensets. And boy, did I learn some lessons. This is a light hearted presentation on Generator 101 to make sure you are on the air using all of the problems that I ran into. This will cover “Best Practices” to make sure when you really need your genset it actually works. Based upon an article he wrote for the SBE The Signal.

A Visit to the Transmitter site, out of sight, out of mind, or is it?

John George, Broadtech Services, Inc.

The presenter will take a typical visit to a transmitter and review the important items to check on the visit using the “SBE Self Inspection Guide” as a guide. Many of the items presented are easy to overlook but can produce an off-air situation with the right condition. Examples of what to do and not to do will be featured. This will be an interactive presentation.

Repair or Replace?

Jeff Welton, CBRE, Nautel

With the recent decision of one of the major tube rebuilders to shut down that portion of their operation, the age-old conversation of “when is it time?” has recently become more critical. It’s hard to justify replacing a fully functional piece of equipment to management, but by the same token, if they’re not given the heads-up regarding parts availability or potential increases in operating costs, we may not be doing our best to give them the information they need to make informed decisions. In this session, we’ll look at the variables that figure into cost of operation and some of the factors that can impact cost of acquisition. The goal is to have a discussion where everyone is equipped with the tools required to be able to make that informed decision and present it to others.”

Ennes Workshop attendees receive One Credit Category G by attending the entire workshop (3 sessions).
