This webinar is the first in a series that aids in the self-study for the SBE Certified Broadcast Networking Engineer (CBNE) certification exam. This webinar will focus on introducing concepts of the OSI Model, TCP Model, and the application to the Physical, Network, and Transport layers as applied to IP Networking. Content will be focused on the broadcast plant where possible and is applicable to those sitting for the CBNE exam.
- How network models related to the development of standards and practices
- Physical layer implementation of Ethernet technology in wired and wireless environments
- Physical network addressing and role of the network layer in Ethernet networks
- TCP & UDP and the role of the transport layer in IP networks
- Why UDP is utilized in the broadcast network environment
Those who wish to embark on self-study preparation for the SBE CBNE certification exam in a structured approach or one who desires an understanding of IP based networking will benefit from this webinar.
Wayne Pecena is the assistant director of educational broadcast services in the Office of Information Technology at Texas A&M University. In this position, he serves as the director of engineering of TTVN: The Enterprise Videoconference and Data Network serving the Texas A&M University System and Public Broadcast stations KAMU-TV and KAMU-FM serving the Brazos Valley area. He is responsible for leading technology implementation for the enterprise network of the Texas A&M University System, supporting more than 150 IP data locations and more than 350 videoconference sites within Texas and internationally. In addition, Wayne is responsible for broadcast technology implementation at KAMU. He has more than 35 years of broadcast telecommunications experience and holds BS and MS degrees from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed private pilot and holds Amateur Radio Operator License N1WP.
The completion of this webinar from Webinars by SBE qualifies for 1 credit, identified under Category I of the Recertification Schedule for SBE Certifications.
