Requesting an Forwarding Address

Members of the SBE may request a forwarding address (SBE address) that will forward to the member’s current address (member’s address) of their choosing. The address format will be first initial, last name @ Addresses will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If an SBE address is already assigned, for example,, then an alternative address will be assigned by the SBE National Office, such as Entitlement to use this service of SBE is premised on continued, uninterrupted SBE membership. It will be terminated immediately upon lapse of membership for any period of time.

To request an SBE address, members can check the appropriate box on the annual SBE member renewal form (paper or online versions), or email Chriss Scherer at the SBE National Office at, or call him between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., M-F, U.S. Eastern Time at 317-762-9723. Email will be the quicker method of communication. By checking the box, the member confirms his or her request for use of the SBE e-mail forwarding address. Then, on the line provided, write the member address you wish to have the SBE address forward to. Please allow up to five business days for the SBE address to be assigned. If the address is not active by then, or if you have any problems or questions, contact the SBE National Office. Also contact the SBE National Office if you wish to change the member address the SBE address forwards to.

Conditions and Exclusions

The member’s address that the SBE address forwards to must be a personal or business address in regular use by the member. The member address selected may not be an address that is routinely accessible by anyone other than the member. By accepting the SBE address, the member affirms that he or she is authorized to use the member address he or she has selected as a forwarding target.

Use of the SBE address by the member will continue unless the member ceases to be a member of the SBE; if the member requests that the assigned SBE forwarding address be deactivated; or should SBE discontinue the message forwarding program for any reason. Messages sent from the SBE member address must not violate any local, state or federal laws, or the Canons of Ethics of the SBE. Misuse of an SBE address in this manner may result in the deactivation of the SBE address by the SBE National Office. SBE addresses are not available to non-members of the SBE. The Society of Broadcast Engineers, Incorporated reserves the right to terminate the participation of any member in the E-mail Forwarding Service for any reason at any time, upon prior notice. Notwithstanding the foregoing, termination of participation will be immediately effected, without prior notice to the participant if, in the opinion of the SBE or its management, the email forwarding service is abused by that participant in any fashion. This specifically includes participants determined to be using the email forwarding service for purposes at variance with the best interests of SBE or who are determined to be mailing spam through the service. Participation in the E-mail forwarding service is at the sole discretion of the SBE, and creates no entitlement whatsoever on the part of any participant to continued use of the domain.

Release of Liability

SBE members who utilize the SBE e-mail forwarding service shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Society of Broadcast Engineers, Incorporated, (SBE) and its officers, directors, agents and employees from and against any and all claims, damages, losses and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, arising or resulting from any use by the SBE member of the forwarding service as described herein, including but not limited to any failure to forward e-mail messages or to continue to do so.
