Air conditioning can be a complex topic. The concerns are very different for a transmitter building and a studio installation. It’s easy to spend a lot of money on either one without satisfying the true needs. Determining what those needs really are is part skill and part black magic. This discussion will suggest some ways to make decisions that come as close to pleasing everyone as possible.

Andy Butler has supervised studio, transmitter and network construction for over 40 years. He has built facilities in St. Louis, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Washington DC, Baltimore and New York City. He has also worked for the NAB and Broadcast Electronics. He is a CPBE and helped write the ATSC standards for the US. He knows just about enough to be dangerous.
