Moving audio over Ethernet goes back to the early 1990s. The advantages of moving audio over Ethernet networks has become clear throughout the: live sound, radio, television, theater, audio and video studio, and commercial AV industries. The need for standards that allow interoperability between systems from different manufacturers has become clear to everyone. Join us as Ken Tankel, senior product specialist Linear Acoustic/Telos Alliance discusses how the AES67 standard for high-performance streaming audio-over-IP interoperability has become the standard that television and radio engineers are demanding to meet their interoperability requirements. The SMPTE standard ST2110-30 for audio over IP uses AES67 as the basis of ST2110-30. This presentation looks at what the AES67 standard is and what it is not. This is what everyone that has to make decisions about using audio over IP (AoIP) needs to know.
Ken is a lifelong audio engineer. His career has included engineering positions in radio and television and with broadcast manufacturers. Since 2010, Ken has been with Linear Acoustic/Telos Alliance and he is a senior product specialist. In his current position Ken speaks to broadcast and audio engineers around the world about improving television audio and the advantages and opportunities in migrating to AoIP. Ken holds an SBE Lifetime CPBE and is a member of AES, SBE and SMPTE.
