FCC Releases 2016 Update to EAS Handbook
August 19, 2016
As part of the preparations for the next EAS National Periodic Test on Sept. 28, 2016, the Federal Communicaitons Commission has released revision of the EAS Operating Handbook. A copy of the handbook must be located at normal duty positions or EAS equipment locations when an operator is required to be on duty and be immediately available to staff responsible for administering EAS tests. The 2016 edition supersedes all other editions and must be in place in time for the 2016 nationwide EAS test. The handbook’s new format was designed by industry and alerting stakeholder members of the Commission's Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC). This format allows each EAS participant to enter data specific to its own configuration, tailoring the operational steps outlined in the manual for local relevance.
The handbook is posted for download on the FCC EAS Test Reporting page, and can be directly downloaded with this link.
