Course Description
The SBE has presented the SBE Leadership Development Course since 1997. The NAB sponsored this course from 1965 to 1995. This intense course is designed specifically for broadcast engineers who have or aspire to have management responsibilities. The SBE offers the course in cooperation with instructor Dr. Abram Walton, the founder of Ivory Bridge Group, a management consulting and training firm.
Designed to take technically adept people and instill in them sound leadership, supervisory and management skills, the SBE Leadership Development Course is equally beneficial for those who are already in management and for those without prior management or supervisory experience.
This highly interactive course will be challenging and rewarding, and includes training in the following areas:

Registration includes all course materials, three days of instruction, the Leadership Development Webinar Series of three webinars, a certificate of completion, light breakfast items and classroom beverages.

About Your Instructor
Dr. Abram Walton is the founder of Ivory Bridge Group, a management consulting and training firm. He is also a full-tenured professor of management at Florida Tech, specializing in management and innovation. He serves as a U.S. Delegate for ISO 56000, on Innovation Management System standards and has been actively researching in the fields of innovation management, business analytics, and product lifecycle management for the past 20 years. He currently serves as the founding director of Florida Tech’s Center for Innovation Management & Business Analytics (CIMBA). He has authored more than 100 publications and conference proceedings, and his textbooks on leadership and management have sold more than 15,000 copies.
Dr. Walton is a regularly invited speaker at national and international conferences. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems at Northwest Nazarene University (2001), and his Masters of Science (2006) and Ph.D. (2009) in Technology, Leadership and Innovation at Purdue University. Before his academic life, he was a fire fighter and EMT, and he later held leadership positions as a manager of Wal-Mart stores.
When not working, Abram enjoys flying, sailing, motorcycles, or traveling with his family.
Recertification Credit
The completion of this course qualifies for 3 credits toward recertification, identified under Category G of the Recertification Schedule for SBE Certifications.
