Texas Association of Broadcasters Convention to Host Final Course on Continental 816R Transmitter

June 17, 2024

The Continental 816R transmitter is a single-tube and solid-state FM transmitter that has been in use for more than 40 years. More than 6,000 of them are still on the air today. While fully solid-state transmitters are common now, with so many legacy units in the field, and fewer people having experience with tube designs, there is an opportunity to attend the last training course on this design.

The Texas Association of Broadcasters Convention (TABShow) will be held Aug. 6 and 7 in Round Rock, TX. During the convention, a special two-day 816R training course will be held. The course features videos, study guides, and instructional sections with a hands on experience with a full 816R series transmitter. The instructors will be Steve Hasskamp, a Continental field engineer for many years, and Bob Stroupe, CSRE, AMD, CBNT, regional engineer in Texas with iHeart Media. Both have more than 50 years’ experience in radio broadcasting.

This is the last time this complete repair and maintenance course will be offered. Register for the convention and the course at tabshow.org. Seating for the transmitter course is limited.
