2022 CBNT & CBNE Study Topics Series

An eight-part series of webinars to provide a background and understanding of networking technology, media and IT systems found in the SBE Certified Broadcast Networking Technologist (CBNT) or the Certified Broadcast Networking Engineer (CBNE) certification exams.

The impact of information technology (IT) in the broadcast facility is clearly here to stay.  IT is a diverse field with IP networking often found as the foundation technology or glue that makes other areas of IT integration possible.  The understanding of IP networking and IT systems is an essential foundation for today’s broadcast engineer.

This webinar series provides a broad overview and practical understanding of the networking technology, media and IT systems found in a radio or TV broadcast media facility.  The eight-part webinar series will cover network types/topologies and models, internetworking, media system architecture, high availability IT systems, IT cybersecurity, and building IT infrastructure.  The final webinar will review the series and discuss CertPreview and taking an exam.   Please note that this series should not be considered a comprehensive certification tutorial!

Webinar lectures will be supplemented with reference material handouts and selected outside readings.  The participant should expect to spend two to three hours in self-study outside  of the formal presentation time, especially if seeking certification. Please note that lecture notes and handouts can be used as reference material for certification exam multi-choice questions.  Reference material cannot be used for the CBNE essay question.
