Overview

This session uses photos and discussion to show various oddities encountered at transmitter sites and lessons that were learned in the experience. Topics covered include changes that can be made to improve operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and operator/engineer safety. Everyone has taken the odd shortcut in the process of getting the job done, and all too often, those shortcuts become “radio – or TV – station temporary. That is, they are still there 20 years later. This session focuses on the long-term costs of shortcuts, as well as suggesting some instead-of-this-maybe-try-that ideas, with the goal of getting good engineering practice and safety to the top of everyone’s mind.
