Audio-over-IP Series

February 25, 2020

This eight-part series on audio-over-IP covers the basics through installations and troubleshooting.

Module 1: IP Networking for Real-Time Media Networks
Originally streamed February 25, 2020
The AoIP webinar series begins with a review of IP networking fundamentals found in and required by an IP network infrastructure supporting real-time media content. A deeper review will look at the hardware typically required by a media content network, the specific use of VLANs to create a segmented network, the implementation of multicast in a LAN environment, and quality of service (QoS) practices to insure quality of experience (QoE) performance. The goal of this webinar is to provide an IP networking technology foundation for the build of an AoIP network regardless of the specific AoIP technology standard deployed.

Module 5: Dante-Based Products Deep Dive
Originally streamed July 16, 2020
This webinar covers the Dante/AoIP mechanism with a detailed overview of the technology and how it’s implemented into manufacturers’ products. In addition, this seminar covers the Dante exclusive primary and secondary built-in backup failover networks, this is the only AoIP system that will automatically and synchronously fill in audio packets from the secondary network in the event of a primary network failure. Additionally, using IEEE1588 GPS-locked master clock generators and Dante Domain Manager, this webinar covers how to get full 24-bit linear audio form one location to another.

Module 6: AES67 Basics – What It Is, and What It Is Not
Originally streamed August 13, 2020
Moving audio over Ethernet goes back to the early 1990s. The advantages of moving audio over Ethernet networks has become clear throughout the live sound, radio, television, theater, audio and video studio and AV industries. The need for standards that allow interoperability between systems from different manufacturers has become clear to everyone.  This webinar discusses how the AES67 standard for high-performance streaming audio-over-IP interoperability has become the standard that television and radio engineers are demanding in order to meet their interoperability requirements. The SMPTE standard ST2110-30 for audio over IP uses AES67 as the basis of ST2110-30. This presentation looks at what the AES67 standard is and what it is not. This is what everyone that has to make decisions about using audio over IP (AoIP) needs to know.

Module 7: Interconnecting AoIP Systems – Making It All Work Together
Originally streamed September 10, 2020
In many ways, AoIP has simplified the infrastructure of broadcast facilities considerably. Once you get beyond a handful of devices or start using multiple AoIP technologies in the same facility, however, it becomes anything but plug and play. In this presentation we will discuss best practices for AoIP networking, as well as techniques for interconnecting different AoIP technologies using AES67.

Module 8: Troubleshooting IP Systems
Originally streamed October 15, 2020
It has been said that the future of audio and video is on packet-switched networks. This webinar covers the advances in modern packet-switched networks or IP Networks. This webinar will help you understand how to troubleshoot IP networks and differentiate between physical and logical concerns. Participants should already have a grasp of the basics of modern networking through Layer 4 of the OSI model.
