Bringing to Light: The Changes in the Tower Lighting World

The FAA compliance rules for your tower’s obstruction lighting continue to be updated as evidenced by the recently released November 2020 circular.  We will review some key aspects of the regulations that you need to know.  LEDs have been around for many years, however, in the tower lighting world their deployment is creating big changes.  In addition, the traditional practice of procurement, maintenance and monitoring has a new model: Tower Lighting as a Service.

Bear Poth is the founding President and CEO of LumenServe, Inc. and has an extensive entrepreneurial and operations background founding and growing numerous telecommunications and technology-based companies over a 25+ year professional career.  His experience includes being founder and CEO of a wide range of companies that have built and operated IP Networks.  He is a long-time member of the Engineering Advisory Board at The University of Texas where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.

Chuck KellyCharles W. Kelly, Jr.

Chuck Kelly is a 49-year veteran of radio and television, working as program director, news director and chief engineer at stations in Illinois and Colorado, then moving into technical sales with ITC/3M, Nautel and Elenos/BE. He was president of the SBE from 1993-1995, elected a Fellow of the SBE in 2011, and currently serves as chair of the Indianapolis chapter. Now retired, he consults for several international broadcast companies and is a ham radio operator as well: W9MDO, VE1MDO and 4E1MDO.

Kevin BethkeKevin Bethke, Founding COO of LumenServe, Inc.

As the founding COO of LumenServe, Inc., Kevin Bethke brings over 25 years of sales, marketing, and operations leadership in both start-ups and large companies. His experience includes COO of a wide area network and VoIP infrastructure company and he has also served as the CEO of a video content creation and distribution Software as a Service (SaaS) targeted at education organizations and corporations.  Kevin received his MBA from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University.
